HELLO AND WELCOME!
A little about myself:
I'm a writer, actor and aspiring "Performance Art-ivist". My influences and heroes are Amanda Palmer, Blindboy Boatclub, Russell Brand, Madonna (circa 1991-2012-ish), Kate Bush, Florence Welch, Yoko Ono...and various mentors...but the most influential presence throughout my life - would probably David Bowie most of all. I got Diamond Dogs for my 13th Birthday and was completely hooked from track one: "Sweet thing/Candidate". It's yearning angst, his deep melancholic voice, the raw lyrics...
"...And isn't it me?
Putting Pain in a Stranger.
Like a portrait in flesh, who trails on a leash
Will you see that I'm scared and I'm lonely?
So I'll break up my room, and yawn and I
Run to the centre of things..."
Who knew an opus about male prostitution and politics would change the life of a pre-pubescent teenager? I understood the pain, I knew the angst, but I was too young (and emotionally damaged) to acknowledge how, or why, I could feel the feels of that song quite so deeply.
Instead, I had to lose my way (over and over) - keep bumping into walls...and then...live to tell. Literally.
So here I am. You can read my blogs, find out all sorts of other stuff about my career as a journalist and performer, at my home base website: www.theeloquentintheroom.com
And by all means, follow me on instagram. If ya want. I don't want my contribution to society to be an echo chamber of my own thoughts and experiences. I really want your feedback - I'd like to create a dialogue around where we're going as a society. Let's all be unsettled enough to break up our rooms and run to the centre of things...and talk about the uncomfortable things that make us human. Those things - that, if we knew more about them, we'd be far more affective as people, as parents and friends and mentors of others. We're all in this together.
To learn. Have a laugh. Have a cry. And move, the fuck forward.
So...welcome to my wee poddy. I hope ya like it. It's off to a nervous start, but it's real. And it's me. Unvarnished. If you have any questions or comments, please send me a message. And if you think other people would benefit from hearing what i have to say PLEASE like, subscribe, rate, comment, etc on itunes etc. I am the algorithm's bitch. The only way to get listeners is to play the roulette wheel of 'clicks'.
